A bevy of recently announced tourism projects seek to develop Dubai into a luxury destination that rivals Monaco . These include Madinat Jumeirah, a giant waterfront resort themed to reflect the historical and cultural heritage of the region. Palm Island , a Palm-tree shaped resort island, to be built on land reclaimed from the sea, will be only the second man-made feature to be visible from the moon. The Palm Island will accommodate 2,000 villas, 40 luxury hotels and massive shopping complexes. Dubai perhaps has more world-class hotels per square mile than any other city. It is home to Burj Al Arab the worlds tallest and only seven-star hotel. The Burj is unlike any other hotel in the world, having been built on a man-made island, more than a kilometer away from the coast.
