The Dubai Development Board (DDB) was created in 1975 by a decree issued by His Highness Sheikh Rashid Bin Saeed Al Maktoum to establish housing projects. The first initiative of its kind in the UAE, it granted national citizens of Dubai special interest-free loans to invest in land and to build safe, decent, sanitary and affordable rental units, specially designed for middle and low income families. From those beginnings the DDB has evolved into a housing agency and community developer rolled into one, producing impressive results with every passing year. Today the Dubai Development Board has a large number of private and public buildings under its supervision and serves several thousands of families increasing at the rate of nearly (800) new families each year residing in the DDB’s housing units throughout Dubai, as well as providing special rental units designed to address the requirements of persons with special needs. The Board performs a number of activities in fulfillment of its mission, from the administration of lease operations and maintenance of rental units to conducting socio-economic studies, covering availability of units, levels and trends in the local market. The DDB is dedicated to providing the residents of Dubai with responsive, fair and efficient services through the diversity of its programs and the commitment of its employees.
